New York State Bar Association To Hold Webinar on Changes to State’s Real Property Law

The New York State Bar Association is offering a legal education class to alert New York lawyers that they will no longer be able to give a homebuyer a $500 credit at closing in lieu of providing information about the home on the property disclosure statement. The new law goes into effect on March 20.
The law, A.1967/S54.00, requires that seller produce the property disclosure form with information concerning potential flood risk, a history of flooding or flood insurance to the buyer.
“This workshop will give New York lawyers the specific information they need to navigate the changes in property law taking place in our state,” said New York State Bar Association President Richard Lewis. “We are keeping up with the many changes taking place and helping lawyers run a successful practice.”
