New York State Bar Association Says Attacks on Judge, Prosecutor Undermine Judicial System

Sherry Levin Wallach, president of the New York State Bar Association, issued the following statement:
“The mission of the New York State Bar Association is to protect the rule of law and to facilitate the administration of justice. President Trump’s attacks on the impartiality of the judiciary and his accusation that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is a criminal are a threat to the integrity of the judicial process. Despite the judge’s warnings to refrain from speaking publicly about the case, Trump disregarded and disrespected the judge and expressed contempt for the criminal proceedings within hours of appearing in court. His rancorous condemnation of the prosecutor and judge only serves to undermine confidence in the judicial system and threatens the safety of everyone involved.”
